Reductase for Aromatic Aldehydes and Ketones THE PARTIAL PURIFICATION AND PROPERTIES OF A REDUCED TRIPHOSPHOPYRIDINE KUCLEOTIDE-DEPENDENT REDUCTASE FROM RABBIT KIDNEY CORTEX
نویسنده
چکیده
The partial purification of the enzyme, aromatic aldehydeketone reductase (aromatic A-K reductase), from rabbit kidney cortex is described. Aromatic A-K reductase utilizes TPNH but not DPNH as a cosubstrate. Substituted benzaldehydes and acetophenones are readily reduced to carbinols. Aromatic A-K reductase does not, however, catalyze the reverse reaction, the dehydrogenation of carbinols under the experimental conditions used. Aromatic A-K reductase utilizes the /3 hydrogen atom at C-4 of TPNH.

متن کاملPurification and Properties of an NADPH-Aldose Reductase (Aldehyde Reductase) from Euonymus japonica Leaves.
The enzyme aldose (aldehyde) reductase was partially purified (142-fold) and characterized from Euonymus japonica leaves. The reductase, a dimer, had an average molecular weight of 67,000 as determined by gel filtration on Sephadex G-100. The enzyme was NADPH specific and reduced a broad range of substrates including aldoses, aliphatic aldehydes, and aromatic aldehydes. Maximum activity was obs...
متن کاملPurification and properties of an NADPH-dependent carbonyl reductase from human brain. Relationship to prostaglandin 9-ketoreductase and xenobiotic ketone reductase.
A nonspecific NADPH-dependent carbonyl reductase from human brain (formerly designated as aldehyde reductase 1; Ris, M. M., and von Wartburg, J. P. (1973) Eur. J. Biochem. 37, 69-77) has been purified to homogeneity. The enzyme reduces a number of biologically and pharmacologically active carbonyl compounds. Quinones, e.g. menadione, ubiquinone, and tocopherolquinone are the best substrates, fo...
متن کاملPurification and properties of NADPH-dependent aldehyde reductase from human liver.
An aldehyde reductase (EC 1.1.1.2) from human liver has been purified to homogeneity. The enzyme is NADPH-dependent, prefers aromatic to aliphatic aldehydes as substrates, and is inhibited by barbiturates and hydantoins. The following physicochemical parameters were determined: molecular weight, 36,200; sedimentation coefficient, 2.9 S; Stokes radius, 2.65 nm; isoelectric point, pH 5.3; extinct...

Flavoproteins have long been recognized as hydrogen and electron carriers between pyridine nucleotides and cytochromes. Cytochrome reductases the oxidation-reduction mechanisms of which have been extensively studied (1) have contained metals, as have other flavin enzymes with cytochrome reductase activity, such as xanthine oxidase (a), liver aldehyde oxidase (3), and Neurospora (4) and Pseudomo...
